Discussing Ep. 8.8 - So now it's the survival of the fittest...almost. With the exception of Cali, all the teams left have at least finished in the Top 3, with CoBren and JeM finishing in first place twice, Franella and Broadway finishing in first place at least once. Will the Froadali Alliance hold and see Franella, Cali and Broadway to the finals or will CoBren, Beveron and JeM disrupt it (or perhaps internal strife) and bring it all an end?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that assessment.

"This is not the Amazing Friends Canada. The only person I'm interested in making an alliance with is this girl right here!" - Veronica

Wasn't this team lamenting last week that no one wanted to ally with them? It's drivel and this stuck up attitude is what makes an alliance with them so unpalatable. We'll see if their inability to ally with another team will somehow backfire on them.

On a side note, I don't get how this all works. Each team departed for the train station at a different time, depending on what position they finished the last leg at (so JeM got to depart for the train station before anyone else since they came in first in the last leg). So why are ALL the teams leaving on the same train...AT THE SAME TIME?!? What was the point of leaving FOR the train station at different times?

So they have to use the Expedia app to book a tour of the Canadian Museum of History. I'd have laughed if those phones were tied to a Rogers plan and that big black out that occurred recently happened on that day that they all got there! They wouldn't have been able to book squat!

They have to search the museum and find each of these stamps to fill in the cost of each stamp. Can they take a picture of this board with the phone they were just issued? Do they get to keep that phone or was that only an advertising tool for Expedia and they had to chuck it away?

Wow! No running in the museum! I like it. So they all have to power walk through this. Should be entertaining.

Hundreds of stamps and they have to find those specific ones! I think teamwork will be advantageous to The Froadali Alliance here.

And there it is! So much for The Froadali Alliance! Did I not express my mistrust of Franella? Did I not express concern that their super-competitiveness would interfere in an alliance? Sure, this is one isolated incident but for all intents and purpose, Franella just kiboshed The Froadali Alliance by denying help to their alliance member, Broadway, multiple times in a single challenge as they were more focused on their own strategy and success. Now we'll see if they complete their stamp collection first and leave Cali and Broadway high and dry.

I really should rename them High and Dry!

I'll give it to Broadway, at least they're still adhering to the alliance. This makes up for Craig using that miners flashlight on his head!

I gotta say, I like this museum lady. She's all stern and serious-looking at first, making it seem like they all got the answers wrong, only for her to turn around and be all smiles and exuberant when she lets them know they got it right!

Damn! I want to eavesdrop on the conversation happening between these two!

I want Beveron and Franella to Face Off against each other! That would be just awesome!

"I'll say it, I like Jesse and Marika more so I'd rather play against them." - Beverly

So it seems like both Franella and Beveron don't want to Face Off against each other and would rather Face Off against JeM! I'm hoping that puts JeM in a more advantageous position, psychologically, as it seems both teams are underestimating them!

Pretty cool seeing Catherine getting to do something she's always wanted to do...but I do hope she pays attention to finding that letter on the ground! 😂

Oh, great! So both Franella and JeM are using GPS and they are going in separate directions! Who is right and who is wrong?

And it appears JeM was right...naturally!

Oh, damn! So Beveron got to the Chateau before Franella and they're all wondering where the hell Franella are! 

"But we had GPS!"

Yes, so where the hell did Franella go? Did they just lose their top spot? Is this karma for them abandoning The Froadali Alliance?

The outfits for this Face Off were right up Broadway's alley! 

"I feel really bad for Team Franella...they went the wrong way." - Catherine

"Team Franella didn't help us in the stamp challenge, I don't feel bad for them!" - Craig

"That's true...okay, okay!" - Catherine

Karma strikes again! So not only does Franella HAVE to Face Off against a fellow Froadali team, but they're facing off against the team they abandoned at the stamp challenge! 

You'd better wipe that resting bitch face off your face, Veronica! Marika asked you nicely to shut the hell up so that she could concentrate on winning. No need to be giving dirty looks! If that's a problem for you, then I'm sure Marika is more than capable of wiping that face off for you by kicking your ass into next week!

 "We had an alliance to get us all to the finale. We're not in the finale yet, so what the hell are they doing?" - Broadway

"We're in Leg 8. We want to be the winners. There can only be one!" - Franella

Yeah, it's a fair point by Broadway. They are not the final three teams YET so the alliance should not have been abandoned by anyone at this point. But Franella's super-competitiveness and selfishness has taken over and thus has probably disintegrated The Froadali Alliance into nothing at this point.

Beveron wanted play against JeM! They got to play against JeM! They got to play and LOSE against JeM!

I love it! A sort of mini-murder mystery but it's town-wide! I'm hoping JeM's head start will give them time to figure out whodunnit! And I also hope they know SOME French!

What the hell happened to CoBren? Last place? They dominated the previous legs but now they're in last place? Is it the moustaches?

What the?!? Sherlock Holmes is rolling in his bed in disappointment at 221B Baker Street! 

That's rubbish, man! JeM didn't need any help from the locals to figure this stuff out!

FIRST PLACE WINNERS, BABY!!!!

I sit here and wonder what the hell any of the teams would have done if the locals were not around to help! I mean, they would have been there all day and would have totally been screwed! Either that or they would have to guess until they got it right.

Nail-biter here! Both CoBren and Cali are getting directions to get to Jon and it's all to avoid elimination!

And of course it's a non-elimination round! Like...c'mon man! Not that I was wanting CoBren to get eliminated at this point but how many of these surprise non-eliminations are we going to get? This is getting rather tiresome to be honest!

So some real developments were made in this episode. The Froadali Alliance is no more thanks to the selfishness of Franella. JeM accomplish a three-peat and also win first place for the second time in a row. CoBren come in last place and have shown a weakness in their game for the first time. And the tensions between Franella and Beveron are finally spoken about in the open. 

I'm hoping next week's episode and all the subsequent ones are do or die and we'll have no more of these last minutes saves.
