The Amazing Race Canada - Come On, Doodlebug

 

Discussing Ep. 8.1 - After a long hiatus (thanks to a pandemic), Amazing Race Canada makes its triumphant return, and I am here for it! So I haven't decided the format I'm taking, whether I will comment as a I watch or watch the show and comment later. For this episode, I will comment as I watch and see how that goes. 

So let's get this race started!

They're a bit too annoying and they sing too much! No, this is not my team.

He's a bit too inspiring. Makes me feel bad. And they're a bit too cute. No, this is not my team.

They're a bit too goofy. But I still like them. They MAY be my team.

Also, a tad too inspiring, though slightly more tolerable. They MAY be my team.

Why can't there be people who are like "I'm here to destroy everyone!!!"

I kind of like these two. High contender for my team.

Why? Why do they have to tug on my heart strings? Off the bat, I didn't like that they sang when they talked. And since they're on Broadway, I figure my niece would go for them so I'll leave them as her team. But that brain cancer thing....damn it! Good for her for defying the odds. Despite that...they are not my team.

So when it's all said and done, my team is: 

Jesse & Marika. I liked their sibling dynamic. Reminds me of my sister and I. Plus, Marika is into martial arts and that's automatically cool. So I'm rooting for this team.

So now it's time for the intro....where Jon asks what they're all racing for.

Everybody knows what they're racing for, Jon!......

BIG MONNNNEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYY!!!!!

Wait....who the hell are these two?!?

And this over-excited fool?

Sigh! So they hadn't even finished introducing everyone yet? I wonder if that means these other teams don't make it far or it's a show editing thing. Either way, I made my pick! I suppose we'll learn about the other teams later.

Okay....seriously Broadway?!? What the hell is that? What are you doing? What is this showing off of your flexibility or whatever it is that you're showing off? I mean, this is why I like JeM (as I'm calling them from now on)....they're normal!

And so now they're introducing the other teams.

I hate these two already. Power couple? Beyonce and Jay-Z? From the first words that came out of his mouth, I knew I wouldn't like them.

 

Normally, I'd go for these two because they're the hot ones....but they have nothing else to them. They're just...pretty! No, I'm sticking with JeM! They have substance!

I kind of like Franella. They have a different energy to them than Beveronica. But still, I'm not changing my pick.

Okay, I thought these two were brothers! Kudos to the dad for looking young (or the son for looking old!). I kind of like them but Tychon already won Big Brother apparently so he's already got his reality show triumph. Move aside for someone else!

Perhaps there's some depth to them after all!

Okay, what the hell, people?!? 

"Yeah, let's show the world how flexible we are and be super flexible and all that!"

Piss off!

 I like Brendan & Connor. They helped out those other teams. Good Canadian boys indeed!

Wait a minute....if they're putting Mjolnir together....how the hell are any of them going to lift it? 

Are any of them worthy? 

How many jokes are there going to be of them saying that they are or are not worthy? 

All hell, yeah! I'd do this challenge!

Wow! I'm mean....c'mon!!!! You walked right past the guy!!!

Forget the jazz option and all that....jazz!

I'd go for the burlesque option....seems easier.

And it looks like most everyone is doing the same thing.

Where the hell is my team? Where is JeM?

I legitimately thought they would have to get more naked than that. Some groups I was looking forward to in that regard. 😏 Others, no so much. Nevertheless, good job, guys!

Though I am wondering what a bad burlesque performance looks like...other than the fact that you don't take off the items in the proper order.

Are you kidding me?!? Jully and Kathy got a police escort because they got lost?!? What the hell is that?!? Perhaps God is on their side!

Good job for Franella. They were like the only ones (other than Jully and Kathy) who took the jazz option.

Noooo!!! Are you kidding me? I ask if anyone can screw up that burlesque thing and JeM are the ones that screw it up?!? 

WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?!?!?

Seriously, they lost the puzzle piece? They blew past the billboard guy and now lost the puzzle. If they get eliminated, I won't be surprised!

Well, that police escort was for NOTHING!!! Though I do wish that eliminations started on the next round instead of the first one. 

So not a bad start to the competition. I guess I'm not too surprised at Brendan & Connor coming in at 1st, though Beveronica finishing 2nd was a little surprising. I think JeM needs to step things up a little bit...they are a bit boring to watch. 

I want drama!
